Gfellner, Barbara M. – Journal of Youth and Adolescence, 1986
The relation between Loevinger's measure of ego development and moral development as indexed by Rest's Defining Issue Test was examined in a sample of 517 adolescents between 12 and 21 years of age. The existence of a strong relationship between the moral and ego development during adolescence was clearly supported. (Author/LMO)

Powers, Stephen; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
The Multidimensional-Multiattributional Causality Scale and the Mathematics Attribution Scale were administered to 107 gifted high school students. Both scales' assessments of the attribution of school success and failure to effort and ability were significantly correlated. Limited support for their convergent validity was indicated. MacLeod, Colin M.; And Others – Intelligence, 1986
Field dependence and spatial ability are examined as different labels for a common underlying dimension. Sixty college students completed two tests of field dependence and two tests of spatial ability. Results of an analysis of covariance found no evidence to view the two traits as distinct from each other. (Author/LMO)

Long, Barbara H. – Journal of Youth and Adolescence, 1986
The effects of family structure and parental discord on the self-esteem of 199 female undergraduates were investigated. Family structure and happiness ratings were substantially related, with those separated rated as less happy. Parental discord appeared to lower the self-esteem of daughters, whereas separation of parents did not. (Author/LMO)

Taylor, Gerald D.; Miller, Peter J. – Canadian Journal of Education, 1985
This study investigates the relationship between performance in professional course work and performance in the practicum in a professional year program for prospective elementary teachers. Darakjian, Gregory P.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
In a longitudinal investigation, the subscales of the Dimensions of Self-Concept revealed declining predictive validity coefficients relative to criteria of secondary school grades. However, the Level of Aspiration subscale consistently exhibited significant predictive validities of student success during each of four time segments. (Author/DWH)

Powell, Ronald R. – Library and Information Science Research, An International Journal, 1984
Examines the relationship between personality, as represented by Rotter's internal versus external control of reinforcement (locus of control), and frequency of public library use by university freshmen. Reddy, Srinivas K.; LaBarbera, Priscilla A. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1985
The application and use of hierarchical models is illustrated, using the example of the structure of attitudes toward a new product and a print advertisement. Subjects were college students who responded to seven-point bipolar scales. Hierarchical models were better than nonhierarchical models in conceptualizing attitude but not intention. (GDC)

Halote, Barry; Michael, William B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
Scores of 202 primarily Hispanic community college students were used to determine (1) the correlations of each of five factor subscales of a research form of the dimensions of Self-Concept (DOSC) measure with the Total Score of the Academic Self-Concept Scale and (2) the empirical factor structure of each instrument. Lee, Robert Alan – Journal of Education Finance, 1983
From analysis of data from 579 school districts it is concluded that financial ratios have the ability to forecast fiscal distress a year in advance. Liquidity ratios and salary and fringe benefit ratios were found to be strong forecasters, while per pupil expenditure data had little predictive value. (MJL)

Cooper, Michael D. – Library and Information Science Research, 1983
Analyses of the relationship between costs and output in more than 3,000 United States academic libraries show that average costs rise more rapidly than output for all types of libraries except two-year private colleges. Major differences in workload and expenditures were found between two-year and four-year public and private institutions. (EJS)

Smith, Glen A.; Stanley, Gordon – Intelligence, 1983
Relationships between intelligence test scores and measures derived from reaction time and perceptual speed procedures were investigated. Only three reaction time measures produced correlations greater than .25 with a general intelligence factor. Test-retest reliability of reaction time measures was low. The reaction time-intelligence relationship…
