Creaser, James W.; Jacobs, Mitchell – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1987
Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory answer sheets for 300 male university freshmen were scored via both the 1981 and 1985 scoring systems. Communalities of the profiles generated by the two scoring systems indicated considerable profile variance. Counselors should thoroughly understand changes made in the new instrument. (Author/NB)

Norcini, John J.; And Others – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1988
Multiple matrix sampling is applied to a variation of Angoff's standard setting method. Thirty-six experts (internists) and 190 items were divided into five groups, and borderline examinee performance was estimated. There was some variability in the cutting scores produced by the individual groups, but various components were well estimated. (SLD)

Aiken, Lewis R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Procedures are described for determining the statistical significance of a set of ratings made on bidirectional (B) scales. B and its statistical significance can be determined on samples of items or raters. The statistical significance of a mean of B values can be assessed by applying a normal approximation test. Bowker, David – ELT Journal, 1984
Describes the use of an exercise to assess overall language proficiency for placement purposes. The "information gap" test is based on a gapped text which the candidate must complete by asking the tester appropriate questions and writing down the answers. Test rankings have been found to correlate highly with teachers' rankings. (SED)

Crosson, Bruce; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1984
Discusses Russell's (1975) system for administering and scoring the Logical Memory and Visual Reproduction subtests of the Wechsler Memory Scale.
