A 34-hour Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST) session was employed as the intervention for the reduction of autistic symptoms of 12 children, aged 6-20 years, with IQ used as a matching variable. Significant within-group, positive effects of REST were found for older subjects and for less severely autistic subjects. (SH)

This study examined a system for fading teacher prompts to children who served as peers in peer-initiation interventions for young children with disabilities (n=6). Among 110 Mexican-American adolescents in a Texas drug abuse program, initial use of toxicant inhalants was related to availability and sensation-seeking, followed by psychological problems, parental and home problems, and peer influence.
