Potter, A.; Barnes, F. H. – Physics Education, 1971
Cohesion and gravitational force are given as the mechanisms by which the siphon works. Hydrostatic theories and experimental results are given to support this conclusion. (TS)

Poultney, Sherman K. – American Journal of Physics, 1971
Describes a laboratory activity about measurement and its reliability for general education students. The measurement focuses on automobile speeds and allows for estimates of errors, experimental design, and relativity in addition to kinematical concepts. (DS)

Jones, David E. H. – Phys Today, 1970
Author relates his practical testing of the theories of bicycle stability. Investigating the steering geometry of the bicycle, using a Fortran program, led to considering the concept of self-centering p and eventually to the successful construction of an inherently unstable bicycle. (RR)

Holaday, Margot – Assessment, 1996
A survey of 26 Rorschach experts and 19 students of Rorschach use was conducted to help students using the Exner Comprehensive System determine whether to code movement for nouns with definitions that include movement. Experts and students did not reach agreement, but a literature review suggests such nouns should often be coded as movement. (SLD)
