Schmeck, Ronald Ray; And Others – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1977
Five studies are presented describing the development of a self-report inventory for measuring individual differences in learning processes. Factor analysis of items yielded four scales: Synthesis-Analysis, Study Methods, Fact Retention, and Elaborative Processing. There were no sex differences, and the scales demonstrated acceptable reliabilities…

Kirk, Samuel A.; Kirk, Winifred D. – Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, 1978
The article describes the circumstances leading to the development of the Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities and discusses the malpractices in administration, scoring, and interpretation of the test. (Author)

Werts, C. E.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
The psychometric application of Joreskog's procedure for simultaneous factor analysis in several populations is illustrated. Using Scholastic Aptitude Test data from two samples, procedures are shown for checking test construction assumptions about units of measurement and error variance, within and between samples. Moore, Michael – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
The validity of a Hebrew version of the Illinois Course Evaluation Questionnaire was investigated in eighty courses in science and engineering at the Israel Institute of Technology. Factor analysis revealed a reasonable correspondence between empirical structure and that afforded by logic and intuition. (Author/JKS)

Stewart, David W.; Deiker, Thomas – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1976
Explores the factor structure of the Mooney Problem Check List (MPCL) at the junior and senior high school level by undertaking a large obverse factor analysis of item responses in three adolescent criterion groups. (Author/DEP)

Zytowski, Donald G. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1976
The scale scores of Kuder Occupational Interest Survey (KOIS) profiles of 1,084 males and females were converted to intraindividual form by means of a z-score transformation. The results are discussed in terms of their utility for interpretation of high ranking scales. (Author)

Cook, Marlene M.; Swanson, Austin – Research in Higher Education, 1978
Focus is on two areas: (1) the factors available to the selection committee when students apply for admission into graduate programs, and (2) those factors emerging after admission, resulting from students' meeting program-imposed requirements for graduation. Program variables are shown to be more important than admission variables. (Author/LBH)

Morris, John D.; Guertin, Wilson H. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1977
Common factor scores were compared to unfactored data-level variables as predictors in terms of the correlation of a criterion with the predicted value in multiple regression equations applied to replication (cross-validation) samples. (Editor)

Latham, Gary P.; Wexley, Kenneth N. – Personnel Psychology, 1977
This research attempts to determine whether Behavioral Observation Scales (BOS) could be improved by developing them through quantitative methods. The underlying assumption was that developing composite scales with greater internal consistency might improve their generalizability as evidenced by the cross-validation coefficients of scales based on…

Krug, Samuel E.; Laughlin, James E. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1977
Intercorrelations among primary personality traits of the Clinical Analysis Questionnaire were factor analyzed with 925 normal adults and 950 clinical cases. When separate analyses were carried out for men and women, 10 second-order factors were clearly replicated across the two data sets. (Author)

Ronning, Royce R.; Walsh, Ursula R. – Research in Higher Education, 1977
Factor analysis of an instructor rating form administered to three successive student and teacher populations revealed a reasonably consistent factor structure across analyses. Substantial changes in proportions of common variance appeared when comparing anonymous and nonanonymous conditions. (Author/LBH)

Layton, Clive; Rust, John – Social Behavior and Personality, 1986
Male school children (N=241), all aged 16 years, and 144 men facing redundancy completed the 60 item version of the General Health Qestionnaire. Data were analysed using unrotated first principal component analysis followed by oblique rotation. The unrotated first principal component accounted for much of the variance, particularly in the school…
