The hypothesis that knowledge about nations is acquired selectively to validate the evaluative learning that has occurred is tested. Preferences for 10 foreign nations were assessed in 60 English children, and information about one nation (Germany) was elicited. Results of the findings extend and support the hypothesis. (SM)
