Kohr, Richard L. – 1976
Pennsylvania's Educational Quality Assessment Program provides each participating school with a building level report in which state percentiles are a prominent part. Multiple matrix sampling was being considered as a technique to reduce testing time. However, there was great concern that the error associated with estimating the school mean might…

McCallon, Earl; McClaran, Rutledge – 1974
This is one of a series of eight short monographs intended to aid practicing educators in planning and conducting accountability programs in schools. This booklet discusses how to determine a sampling method that is appropriate to the objectives of a particular research or evaluation effort. Short sections focus in turn on why and when to sample,…

Hakstian, Ralph A.; Skakun, Ernest N. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1976
Populations of factorially simple and complex data were generated with first the oblique and orthogonal factor models, and then solutions based on special cases of the general orthomax criterion were compared on the basis of these characteristics. The results are discussed and implications noted. (DEP)

Pearse, R. – International Review of Education, 1977
This study, based on a survey of rural families in several provinces in Indonesia, is an attempt to search for variables, and combinations of variables, that predict the actual utilization of schooling by individual families. Suggests these useful predictors: family characteristics, family economic status, family orientation toward education.…

Cohen, Arie; Farley, Frank H. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
Cross-cultural validity studies for psychological instruments may result in overestimation of structure invariance due to some items being scored on more than one scale. This problem, called the common-item effect, is investigated with some data from the literature. (JKS)

Carroll, Robert M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1976
Examines the similarity between the coordinates which resulted when correlations were used as similarity measures and the factor loadings obtained by factor analyzing the same correlation matrix. Real data, a set of error free data, and some computer generated data containing deliberately introduced sampling error are analyzed. (RC)

Ball, Samuel – Journal of Social Issues, 1976
The components of three areas that pose special problems in the evaluation of television programs are discussed: design, sampling, and measurement. Methods for ameliorating difficulties in these problem areas are suggested. (Author)

Williams, Don; And Others – Journal of Higher Education, 1987
Faculty members participate in the governance of their university according to their perceptions of the faculty's role in that process. Empirical evidence for stipulating six distinct but complementary perspectives toward their governance role held by faculty members at a major Western public research university is presented. Burns, Marilyn – Instructor, 1987
Alphabet Math is an investigation of the order of usage of letters in the alphabet. Children collect individual data then compare and interpret it to make inferences. The inferences are compared to analyses of larger samples. How this is done is described. (MT)

Garg, Rashmi; And Others – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1986
For the purpose of obtaining data to use in test development, multiple matrix sampling plans were compared to examinee sampling plans. Data were simulated for examinees, sampled from a population with a normal distribution of ability, responding to items selected from an item universe. (Author/LMO)

Rasmussen, Jeffrey Lee – Evaluation Review, 1985
A recent study (Blair and Higgins, 1980) indicated a power advantage for the Wilcoxon W Test over student's t-test when calculated from a common mixed-normal sample. Results of the present study indicate that the t-test corrected for outliers shows a superior power curve to the Wilcoxon W.

McClintock, Charles – Educational Administration Quarterly, 1985
Highlights the conceptual importance of defining administrative processes as units of analysis when conducting case studies of educational administration, identifies methodological advantages of a systematic approach to stratified cluster sampling, and suggests that information management is an important aspect of the school administrator's job.…
