Multivariate and bivariate analyses of teachers' responses showed that locus of control was related to teacher stress. As hypothesized, teachers who felt they were in control reported less stress in job related situations than did those who did not feel influential in their educational environment. (Author/DWH)

A broad-based research strategy is proposed which includes analyses of values, needs, expectations, essential skills, the role of significant others, and locus of control patterns of Alaska natives and which provides for the development of systematic research strategies addressing their success and attrition. The interaction effects of two stress management strategies, the directed lecture discussion versus self-directed, and locus of control of teachers were examined. Examined the effects of separation and divorce on adolescents' (N=217) self-image, anxiety, locus of control, and perception of their family.
