Clarifies the extent to which an individual's fear of success scores may vary with the presence or absence of occupational deviance and/or role overload in stimulus materials describing situations of female competitive success. The impact of the husband's retirement on the wife's conception of three aspects of her role as housewife was studied. Retired teachers and their wives were surveyed.
