Schneider, John H. – 1972
This is a hierarchical decimal classification of information related to cancer biochemistry, to host-tumor interactions (including cancer immunology), and to occurrence of cancer in special types of animals and plants. It is a working draft of categories taken from an extensive classification of many fields of biomedical information. Because the…

Heller, Ilene – Professional Engineer, 1978
Discusses the apparently opposing forces of worker safety, as represented by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and economic inflation spawned by expensive industrial processes needed to limit the emission of carcinogens. (CP)
Descriptors: Cancer, Costs, Federal Legislation, Government Role
Peer reviewedWhite, Jack E. – Phylon, 1977
Cancer mortality in U.S. blacks has greatly increased since 1950. This greater increase for blacks was found in 28 of the 56 most frequent cancers. Greater exposure to environmental carcinogens appears to be the main cause. This author recommends a thorough epidemiologic study of the rise in black cancer deaths. (Author/GC)
Descriptors: Blacks, Cancer, Environmental Influences, Racial Differences
Peer reviewedJames, Walter G. – Journal of School Health, 1977
The American Cancer Society is initiating an educational program on childhood cancer to (1) inform teachers of the cancer problem, progress and treatment, and detection procedures; (2) facilitate the patient's return into the classroom; and (3) provide general cancer information to school personnel, students, and the public. (MB)
