Discontinuation at ages five to six of dietary restriction in 14 children with classic phenylketonuria (PKU--a metabolic disorder which, if untreated, is associated with mental retardation) resulted in deterioration in intellectual function for some of the Ss. Deficits included visual motor integration and cognitive problem solving. (CL)

Examines age-related predictive relationships among an array of psychometric intellectual ability markers and text recall performance. Women from three age groups (ranging from 21 to 78 years) read and recalled four narratives at three delay intervals and completed a battery of intellectual ability tests. (Author/CB)

Compared the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) (WISC-R) and the Leiter International Performance Scale with 40 average and above average students. Results indicated a curvilinear relationship between the WISC-R and the Leiter, which correlates higher at the mean and deviates as the Full Scale varies from the mean. (JAC)

This study, with 496 children seeking admission to a special program for gifted preschoolers, found that creativity (as measured by the Thinking Creatively in Action and Movement Scale) was significantly related to intelligence (as measured by standard IQ tests) when IQs were less than 120 but was not related at higher IQ levels.
