A test of basic knowledge in statistics was developed to predict performance in a graduate level statistics course for psychology students. Test scores plus GRE scores were used to predict final exam performance in a graduate statistics course. The devised test predicted performance moderately well. (RD)

Scores obtained by doctoral students on a battery of psychological tests were correlated with ratings of students provided by academic tutors. Students rated most highly by academic tutors tended to be those with low to moderate levels of cognitive complexity and low neuroticism. (Author/MJL)

The common patterns of work activity adopted by science students during the three years of PhD study are described, and their relationship to thesis submission is examined.
