Naval recruits attending a remedial reading program were compared to regular recruits on verbal, nonverbal, demographic, and eye-hand laterality measures. The mean IQ on the Slosson Intelligence Test (SIT) was substantially higher than expected based on the earlier Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT) scores.
