Partial knowledge was assessed in a multiple choice vocabulary test. Test reliability and concurrent validity were compared using Rasch-based dichotomous and polychotomous scoring models. Analysis of results of a survey of the parents of 46 black hearing-impaired students found that these parents were highly satisfied with their children's educational programs but involved themselves only minimally in the formal educational process.
