Compared the attitudes toward physically disabled persons held by individuals at three educational levels who had personal contact vs no such contact with the disabled. A version of the Tennessee Self Concept Scale was used to measure self-esteem and adjustment in groups of users and nonusers of the counseling center at a French Canadian University. Users were found to have significantly lower self-esteem scores than nonusers. Sex seemed unrelated. (Author)

Studies a sample of Mexican-American students identified as potential dropouts and finds drug use is widespread. Cigarettes, marijuana, and alcohol are used by the majority of students. Evaluates the Bardis Familism Scale. Data were collected in 1975 from 586 Indian college students. Results indicate that the scale consists of two separate subscales, labeled Nuclear Familism and Extended Familism, which coincide exactly with Bardis' revised subscales.
