Reliability and validity of the Offer Self-Image Questionnaire (OSIQ) for adolescents were studied in an Australian sample of 72 male and 144 female high school students. The OSIQ was found to be reliable for appropriate research with adolescents. Further work is needed to improve item content and the present subscales. (SLD)

Evaluates gender differences in the relation between stressful life events and adjustment among elementary school children, using 63 Israeli children and parallel questionnaires from 83 Israeli mothers. Life events are associated among boys, but not girls, with increased anxiety and heightened withdrawal. Other differences are discussed. (SLD)

Uses a modified version of the labor-utilization framework to measure the types and extents of underemployment for 2,107 black males and females, a sample from the National Survey of Black Americans (1980). Results reveal a larger percentage of females unemployed, underemployed by low hours or low income, and discouraged. (SLD)
