Library School subject specialty courses contribute to a higher caliber graduate and a widening career spectrum. The current state of such courses is analyzed through data gathered from 59 accredited library science schools. Because people learn much better and much more efficiently in real-life situations, a system of apprenticeships is proposed as an alternative to library school.
