Bridging the Gap: Staff and Faculty Perception of Collaboration between Student Services and Academic Affairs
Macklin Gipson; Jennie Walts; Nikki Williams
Practitioner to Practitioner, v14 n1 p13-19 2025
Institutions of higher learning play an important role in shaping the future of their students, and by integrating academic, student, and administrative services, they can create cohesive support systems that address the many challenges faced by students today. This study investigated how employees at three distinct higher education institutions perceive their roles in student success. The authors first reviewed the research and then deployed a survey that contained Likert-scale questions along with open-ended questions. When analyzing the results of the survey, respondents highlighted various collaboration strategies adopted at their respective institutions while also revealing several key areas where improved collaboration could enhance student success. The survey responses highlight significant gaps in current practices while pointing toward promising solutions.
