Describes and evaluates a program to teach medical students to take a sexual history. The technique used was a supervised videotaped interview of a programed patient (rehearsed in presenting a specified complaint). Results included increase in students' comfort and view of their skills. (JT)

Clerks and house officers in a training program in internal medicine were observed during the performance of a history and physical examination.
