Project SCATE (Students Concerned About Tomorrow's Environment) is an action-oriented, interdisciplinary program for secondary students in environmental stewardship. Berea College has been improving its work-based experiential education program by developing more integrated combinations of academic and work experiences that are centered around the interdisciplinary study of administrative behavior and developmental processes of the administrative role. (JMD)

Described in an experimental ethics course, taught at the University of Kentucky, in which the student combines the experience of a public agency internship with reflection afforded by readings and discussion of ethical issues in a seminar format. The CBE programs in social work, the learning contracts involved, and assessment techniques are described for programs at the University of Montana and the University of Georgia.

Evaluative studies of experiential education in pharmacy are reviewed, and a holistic approach to evaluation, including a model, is presented. Advocating the study of practical arts as a means of preparing youth to cope with a wide range of personal and societal problems, the author presents his rationale for and an outline of a practical arts program.
