A study explored the role of grandparents in the families of seven children with deafness. Adolescent and caseworker reports of family functioning in 33 neglectful and 34 non-neglectful families indicated that adolescents from neglectful families perceived a higher level of quality in family functioning than was reported by caseworkers or supported by other measures.
