A critical review of nine articles featured in a School Psychology Review issue devoted to the theme of reading assessment and intervention revealed that the data were essentially accurate and consistent with reading education principles. Presents a practical consultation model for school counselors which can be adapted for classroom and workshop presentations on consultation. Describes the model in six steps including evaluation, data gathering, clarifying, exploring, decision making, and termination. (PAS)

Assessed the effectiveness of role-play and discussion activities in the acquisition of specific consultant interview skills. Results indicated that subjects in the role-play group made a significantly higher mean number of appropriate responses than subjects in either the discussion or control groups. (Author)

A staff development model on the topic of mainstreaming was designed around three components: workshops, technical assistance, and program visitations. Evaluation data collected from each component indicated that feedback from the staff concerning the work of consultants needs to be shared with the principal. (JN)
