To complement an online registration program, Boston College has students who are appointed to the position of freshman registration advisor. The advisors work from mid-May through orientation weekend. Freshmen welcome the opportunity to talk to other students about courses, instructors, work load and major requirements. (MLW)

The Academic Advising Program at the United States Military Academy is described. Faculty members are organized (seven or eight for each cadet company) and accept responsibility for advising 60 cadets. Because of their social, educational and economic status, black student-athletes bring problems to their institutions that need addressing. Twelve recommendations are provided that could be an excellent foundation for helping black athletes achieve their full academic potential. (MLW)

Surveyed former peer advisors (N=201) to determine the perceived effects of a specific peer advisement program on choice of undergraduate major, selection of a career and selection of further graduate or professional training.
