Interviews with a random sample of 270 students and a selected sample of 52 key informants showed students were more willing to use self-help groups than key informants predicted. Students were especially willing to use self-help groups for difficulties such as physical handicaps but not for relationship issues. (RJM)

A study investigated the effects of an intensive group counseling workshop on 155 low-achieving high school students (in grades 10 through 12) considered to be at high risk of dropping out. Measures the degree to which group guidance and small group counseling generated positive change in the social acceptance and self-esteem of normal and socially inefficacious adolescents. Examined attendance problems in a group treatment program for test anxiety at a college counseling services program. Analyzed data collected over 13 years from 736 students.
