Measured the attitudes of male and female university students (N=244) toward blind and other physically disabled students. Survey results showed students reacted most negatively to blind students in academic situations and to students in wheelchairs in social situations. Compared the life satisfaction of elderly Whites and Blacks. Showed that most factors influencing life satisfaction of elderly people have similar effects among Blacks and Whites. Although greater numbers of physical impairments lead to lower life satisfaction for both races, the negative effect is considerably stronger among Blacks. (Author/JAC)

Residential and public school staff (N=137) involved in a one-session training program showed significantly improved knowledge levels about feeding approaches for severely physically handicapped persons compared to an untrained group. No significant changes were found in attitude, feeding-related behaviors, or mealtime quality. (CL)

Tested three hypotheses focusing on the role of religion in the personal adjustment of older age cohorts. Examined life satisfaction as it relates to age, physical disabilities, and church attendance. Results of interviews with 1,170 older adults suggested physical disabilities may explain decline in church attendance with age. (RC)
