Lewis, D. G.; Garvey, J. – Educational Review, 1980
The performance of first-year primary pupils from Social Priority Schools in a large urban area was compared on ten of the ITPA subtests. Analysis of variance showed significant and substantial differences in the Auditory Vocal Channel and Representational Level of the test, favoring those children with previous nursery experience. A follow-up study of academic tenure and collective bargaining in dental schools is reported. There appears to be an increase in tenured positions in dental schools since a 1975 survey. However, since 1975, no other dental school faculties have unionized. The Yeshiva case makes unionism questionable. (MLW)

Comparisons of self-reported leisure showed an overall shift toward more positive, socially accepted leisure activities at follow-up. More free time was spent with family and friends who did not use drugs. Positive leisure at follow-up was related to favorable outcomes on drug use, criminality, and productive activities. (Author)

Among obese females following a behavioral weight loss program, a measure of perceived personal control significantly predicted outcome. Internals achieved greater mean weight loss. The internal control orientation was associated with higher extraversion and self-acceptance, but neither of these other variables correlated with weight loss. (Author)
