Meehan, Patrick J.; And Others – American Journal of Public Health, 1991
Suicide mortality rates are analyzed for older adults (Blacks, Whites, males, and females) using national mortality data for 1980 through 1986. Elderly White males have the highest rates and have experienced an increase of 23 percent. The rate for Black males rose by 42 percent. Implications for social policy are discussed. (SLD)

Bagley, Christopher – Child Welfare, 1993
A total of 52 Afro-Caribbean, mixed-race, and Caucasian children adopted by Caucasian parents were surveyed 12 years after their adoption. Most of the adolescents and young adults in all three groups scored favorably on measures of adjustment and identity. There was no evidence that transracial adoptions led to maladjustment. (MDM)

Examined predictors of first- through fourth-grade retention of inner-city public school children. Retained children were more often male and African American and had less educated parents than nonretained children.
