Increasingly specialized demands are being placed upon teachers in the U.S. In this article ways the Federal Government could help teachers meet these demands are outlined. A new way of thinking about our schools' instructional program is suggested. (Author/GC)

Cooperative work-study programs are being used increasingly in technology education. In some foreign colleges, co-op programs are requisite. The author advocates an international co-op program utilizing the best of many countries in developing competent technical manpower. He cites advantages to the United States in sponsoring these programs. (MA)

Due to the diversity of compensatory education programs and to disparities in their goals and administration, it is difficult to evaluate their effectiveness. A pilot summer project under the auspices of the Protective Services Resource Institute has been developed at New Jersey-Rutgers Medical School in which medical students work alongside professional social workers with families in which abuse and neglect are potential or actual problems. (LBH)
