Although there is some geriatric content in optometry curriculum, such as pathology and diseases associated with aging, the emphasis would be better placed on aging as a normal process. Further education about the elderly population as a whole and further legislation for comprehensive care are needed. (MSE)

An analysis of trends in biomedical education within chemical education is presented. Data used for the analysis included: type/level of course, subjects taught, and textbook preferences. Results among others of the 1980 survey indicate that 28 out of 79 schools responding offer at least one course in biomedical engineering. (JN)

Klug, Leo F.; Waugh, Earle H. – Essence: Issues in the Study of Ageing, Dying, and Death, 1982
Surveyed Canadian universities to determine how often full-semester credit courses in thanatology were offered. Results confirm a steady increase in the number of such courses offered from 1971-1980. Found all thanatology teachers held at least a masters degree. Departments of religion and philosophy offered 55 percent of the courses. (Author/JAC)
