People are becoming more aware of the dangers of smoking, but nonsmokers still find it difficult to avoid inhaling second-hand smoke. Ways to separate smokers from nonsmokers in public places and to get smokers to refrain from smoking in the presence of nonsmokers are discussed. (IS)

Health educators should be able to use mass comunications media and should be knowledgeable about the most recent media theories, methods, and technologies. Suggestions for making effective use of television, newspapers, and other media for disseminating health information and for conducting media campaigns are given. (PP)

California laws governing the preparation and licensing of teachers were revised in 1970. The revised bill excluded health education as a teaching specialty.
