The Cherokee Nation Youth Leadership Program began in 1982 to address the issue of leadership and to instill self-confidence, a positive regard for Cherokee identity, and a sense of community spirit by means of a multicultural camp experience. Evaluated the effectiveness of Kairos, a Canadian outpatient drug rehabilitation program. A survey of 43 former clients showed all made some improvement as measured by a social rating scale, and most had positive comments about the program.
