Assessed the consistency of classification of depression in college students in two studies. The stability of the Beck Depression Inventory was tested after one day, one week, and using subsequent responses for subjects retested the same day. Results showed repeated administration resulted in a decline of high scores. (JAC)

Compared the Wonderlic Personal Test and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale for a sample of 30 adults first tested in 1976. The two tests were similar in reliability of clinical classification, but the Wonderlic demonstrated fewer practice effects. Despite its ease of administration, Wonderlic intelligence estimates appear stable. (Author/JAC)

The importance of applying multiple selection criteria from the beginning in the identification of gifted students is stressed. Approaches which use achievement and intelligence tests as a primary screening criteria before applying multiple criteria are said to be only skin deep. (CL)

A study involving 89 junior and senior high school students was conducted to validate an identification instrument which classifies behaviors into six categories--convergent, divergent/creative, goal oriented, social skills, physical skills, and affect/feelings. Boehm's classification of test items on the Boehm Test of Basic Concepts (BTBC) was examined from a factor analytic perspective. A single, general factor related to the acquisition of basic verbal concepts best described the instrument. This factor was constant across the two forms of the BTBC. (Author/GK)

The results indicated that 53 percent of the schools that responded are screening students for Usher syndrome. One-half of the schools with screening programs offered some support services: personal counseling, genetic counseling, curricular modifications, and vocational counseling. (Author)
