This study was conducted on the Counselor Evaluation Rating Scale (CERS). Ratings on 404 students from approximately 35 different supervisors were factor-analyzed using an oblique solution with rotation to simple loadings. It was concluded that the CERS has generally achieved the purposes intended by its authors. (Author)

To help counselors assess the morality of counseling decisions, a matrix of influencing is presented that generates morally significant questions for counseling. Empathic responses of 27 graduate and undergraduate counseling students with high and low moral development were compared. Both groups responded more empathically to a client whose moral development was lower than their own, suggesting that counselor empathy is related to both the counselor's and the client's level of moral development.
