Responses from 44 deans (32%) and 212 faculty (60%) in nursing schools showed that most changes were initiated with greater frequency in the first year of a new dean's position. The reliability and validity of a newly constructed instrument, the Breast Self-Examination Proficiency Rating Instrument, was tested with 84 instructed and 80 uninstructed nursing students.
