To examine changes in self-reported anxiety during the course of a small group, Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was administered at several times to participants in brief, leaderless sensitivity training groups. Results indicate that trait anxiety remained stable while state anxiety decreased significantly. (Author)

This study investigated the influence of group counseling on self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and hostility in three groups of adult females. Results indicated a significant change in the level of self-esteem in one group that had no distracting crises to contend with. No significant changes appeared in anxiety, depression or hostility.
