Describes an investigation which compared level of family-of-origin dysfunction of counseling and noncounseling master's degree students utilizing ANOVA and MANOVA analyses. Analysis of British national data sets shows that, although women's representation in the sciences increased, occupational outcomes differ for men and women. Women are much more likely to be underemployed and are overrepresented in teaching. Labor-market policies, as well as education policies, need attention. (Author/JOW)

A survey of industrial technology graduates from Bemidji State (n=30) and Purdue (n=100) compared job titles. The majority were either engineers or managers/supervisors. Graduates of both a more structured program and one with more liberal education requirements had similar jobs. (SK)

A study of the college class of 1993 4 years after they earned their bachelor's degrees found that they were more settled in the labor force, more were employed full time and had jobs requiring bachelor's degrees, fewer were in graduate school full time, and most earned at least one-third more than in 1994. Of 38 recent graduates in agricultural communication, 67.7% were employed in the field. The majority were satisfied with their jobs. Their perceptions of promotion opportunities and satisfaction with their work were positively correlated with their evaluation of the effectiveness of their educational preparation. A survey of registered nurses who graduated in 1986 (n=50) and 1991 (n-58) revealed these opinions: insurance companies increasingly control patient care; workload and paperwork have increased; and there are fewer jobs and less job security.
