Recent surveys of teachers and principals regarding their perceptions of professional development needs and preferred modes of delivery for inservice teacher education revealed similarities and discrepancies between the two groups. A 1972-73 survey of 50 medium-sized public school districts in Wisconsin took 16 variables into account, including teacher salaries and experience, geographic region, and district revenues, in determining that collective bargaining had little or no influence on pupil-teacher ratios. (RW)

A questionnaire survey of 331 Pennsylvania public school teachers gathered data on their attitudes toward Early Retirement Incentive Plans (ERIPs) and on their demographic and job characteristics. The results show teachers strongly support the ERIP concept, chiefly because of their desires to pursue second careers or leisure pursuits. (RW)

Three hundred regular elementary teachers in North Carolina were surveyed regarding their concerns about educating handicapped children in the regular classroom. The authors examined the differences existing in selected categories of fringe benefits among 991 teachers from varied settings in New Mexico.
