The medical aspects of surfing include ear and eye injuries and sprains and strains of the lower back and neck, as well as skin cancer from exposure to the sun. Questionnaires to 613 predominantly Black, urban high school students elicited information on health problems, information needs, and factors affecting health service prior to the opening of an adolescent health clinic in Detroit.
