A survey of faculty at seven schools, colleges, and departments of education in different parts of the United States was taken to clarify the academic role of education faculty. Results indicate that education faculty have rich and varied teaching experiences, characteristics, and scholarly achievements. (PP)

The hypothesis that highly militant teachers would favor strict control of students was tested using the Attitudinal Militancy Scale and the Pupil Control Ideology Form.
