This analysis of the evaluation literature on interactive video describes nature of the evaluations, reviews information on the effectiveness of interactive video, and discusses what the evaluations offer for improvement of interactive video design and use. Assessed several behavioral and personality characteristics that have been implicated in studying the onset of bulimia in female college students (N=80) classified into bulimia, binge eating, and control groups. Surveyed 813 adolescents to examine the relationship between father absence and adolescent drug use and sexual activity. Found that while adolescents were more likely to discuss problems with peers than parents, father absence was related to behavior problems, especially for boys. (JAC)

Surveyed 134 single mothers and their children to examine sex-role attitudes and sex-stereotyped behavior. Results showed mothers generally held liberal attitudes, varying with education and occupation. Children reflected their mothers' attitudes, but preferred traditional behavior and did sex-stereotyped chores. (JAC)

Evaluated the relationship of demographic, individual, and family relationship variables to criminal activity among juvenile offenders and their siblings. Assessed the impact of difficulty forming an occupational dream and relating to parents on depression among college students (N=64). Results suggested that having to give up a valued dream, viewing one's relation to mother as authority-obeyer, and doing little exploring of occupational choices are related significantly to depression. A 1972-73 study found a negative correlation between collective bargaining and teacher salary levels in Wisconsin. Replication of the study in 1979-80 indicated that collective negotiations had no significant effect on salaries or on fringe benefits and that socioeconomic factors were of highest significance. Interviewed 990 urban elderly Canadians to examine factors influencing the desire for different housing. Results showed that housing conditions, living with children, and sickness influenced the wishes of the elderly to leave home, while functional impairment was not related. (JAC)
