The obese face severe discriminatory reactions, leading to low rates of prosocial intervention and devaluation of ability and potential. It is no surprise that the obese adopt negative self-images. Review of literature on gender-linked aspects of nonverbal behavior reveals that the differences in nonverbal behavior are in line with societal expectations calling for women to be reactive and for men to be proactive. This paper argues that the emotions have a central place in moral education. Two types of emotions involved in moral judgment are defined: constitutive and regulative. Assessed effects of family variables on helping and comforting behavior of 146 preschoolers. Males whose fathers were absent had the highest scores for comforting behavior.
