Residency programs in six medical specialties were surveyed to examine the frequency and kinds of psychosocial support offered to residents. Classroom interaction patterns between male and female students perceived as either high or low achievers were examined in the fall, winter, and spring. A study of fifth-grade students showed high achieving students spent less time interacting with teachers, so their instructional cost was lower. Lower achieving students demanded more teacher and aide time, resulting in higher instructional cost. A measure of instructional cost based on productive use of time is proposed. (JAC)

Education majors preparing to be secondary school teachers could participate in a pre-student teacher field experience teaching project. Project participants had higher self-concepts at the end of student teaching than their nonparticipating counterparts.
