Nurses in both education and service need to develop a shared vision of the profession and to work together to put it into practice. There should be improved collaboration between faculty and nursing administrators. Nursing students lack the opportunity to become socialized to the role of the nurse and to the world of work. (CT)

Participation in supplemental tutoring led to a significant improvement in classroom behavior although significant changes in achievement and self-concept were not found. A study of women and men in higher education administration revealed more liberal attitudes towards sex characteristics and sex-role images. Sex was not a significant factor in evaluations of women and men as administrators. Individuals with liberal attitudes were more likely to evaluate men and women equally.

In a replication of an earlier test, frequency of student/faculty contact was found to be related positively to students' academic, intellectual, and personal growth, even after precollege differences were controlled. Examined the effect of nonstereotyped, same-sex role models on the self-esteem of children in grade three. Results from 346 multiethnic students show both girls' and boys' self-esteem increasing more with same-sex role models than with the other-sex role models.
