Abramson, Paul R. – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1973
Results of the present study indicate that investigation into sib-sib and parental-surrogate-sib interactions cannot be overemphasized. (Author)

Mendels, Glen E. – Journal of Educational Research, 1973
While stepwise regression analyses revealed that the demographic variables of sex, school ability, age, and father's occupation increased the power of prediction the LTIT alone was judged to be a valid predictor of academic achievement. (Author)
Descriptors: Intelligence Tests, Kindergarten Children, Predictive Validity, Predictor Variables
McNeil, Keith; Lewis, Ernest L. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1972
This article illustrates the role multiple linear regression can play in developing prediction equations by providing examples of regression models that could be used in answering questions relative to the importance of a single predictor variable, interactions between predictor variables, and the cross-validation and generalizability of…

Williams, John D.; Lindem, Alfred C. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1971
Setwise regression analysis is a new technique developed to allow a stepwise solution when the interest is in sets of variables rather than in single variables. (CK)

Yelin, Edward H.; And Others – American Journal of Public Health, 1983
Analysis of medical and hospital services utilization revealed no consistent differences in number of physician visits by race, income, education, insurance coverage, or religion of users. Lack of insurance coverage and race were associated with fewer hospitalizations for certain diseases. Symptoms and diagnoses of disease were used to control for…

Salts, Connie J. – Personnel and Guidance Journal, 1983
Compared data on individuals (N=23) who dropped out of postdivorce adjustment counseling groups with those who completed the programs (N=57). Results showed that dropouts had more children, less income and increased length of separation from spouse. Proposes guidelines to assist counselors in the screening process for divorce groups. (WAS)

Anderson, Stephen A.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1983
Explored questions about the power of family life-cycle categories to predict marital quality, the trend of marital quality over the family life-cycle, and relationships between perceived marital quality and family life-cycle categories. Results indicated family life-cycle and total number of children were significant predictors of marital…

Velicer, Wayne F. – Evaluation Review, 1982
A general model for prediction and association is described for the situation in which both criterion and predictor(s) are discrete variables. The approach can be employed for the general case involving any number of predictors, and the related measures of multiple and partial association are described. (Author/GK)

Rogosa, David – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
The form of the Johnson-Neyman region of significance is shown to be determined by the statistic for testing the null hypothesis that the population within-group regressions are parallel. Results are obtained for both simultaneous and nonsimultaneous regions of significance. (Author)

Burgoon, Michael; And Others – Journalism Quarterly, 1981
Reports that while "personalism"/surveillance and competence/trust ratings predict user satisfaction with newspapers, bias ratings do not. (FL)

Blum, Albert A.; And Others – Journal of Collective Negotiations in the Public Sector, 1981
A study of the National Union of Teachers' officers in Israel revealed that the key indicators of militancy among teachers were sex (male), perceptions of too much centralization in the union structure, dissatisfaction with union attainment of goals, and extent of sensitivity to public hostility toward teachers. (Author/WD)

Yovits, M. C.; And Others – Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1981
This first of two related reports by the same authors presents a generalized theory of the information flow process that establishes quantitative definitions for and relationships among quantity of information, value of information, effectiveness of information, decision-maker effectiveness, and decision-maker performance. Eighteen references are…
