Honeycutt, James M.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1982

Ignatz, Milton – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
This study set out to determine the relationship of each of 12 selected cognitive factors to physics achievement at the high school level. Multiple regression analysis indicated that the most promising predictors for boys were divergent production measures; convergent production for the girls. (Author/GK)

Munroe, Barbara Hazard – American Educational Research Journal, 1981
Path analysis was used to test the T into model of college dropouts using a sample drawn from the National Longitudinal Study of the High School Class of 1972. Findings support the notion that commitment to the goal of college completion has the strongest effect on persistence. (Author/GK)

Tremaine, Leslie S.; And Others – Sex Roles: A Journal of Research, 1982
Explored age differences in occupational sex typing among children. Preschoolers generally did not sex-type their job attributions, while elementary school children did. Thus, preschoolers' job attributions and service preferences did not conform to the sociocultural reality of who does certain jobs in our society. (Author/GC)

Brown, Jodie Johnson; And Others – Home Economics Research Journal, 1982
This study examines the assessment of planning by low income families. The influence of dyadic consensus on planning; of locus of control on dyadic consensus; and of age, education, and income on locus of control are the primary foci of this study. (CT)

Fraps, Carolyn L.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Studied adults who requested outpatient psychotherapy. Questionnaire items concerned the client's situation, past behavior in fulfilling commitments, self-prediction of session attendance, and reaction to the initial interview. A critical response scale proved highly predictive of the number of treatment sessions attended in both initial and…

Ruddy, Margaret G.; Bornstein, Marc H. – Child Development, 1982
Investigates the predictability of cognitive differences at 12 months from infant and maternal behaviors at 4 months. Overall, the results show that some individual differences in cognition may be predictable across the first year of life. (Author/RH)

Silling, S. Marc – American Mental Health Counselors Association Journal, 1980
Surveyed the literature to delineate the etiology of LSD flashbacks. Concluded that adverse experiences while using LSD are predictive of flashbacks; physiological effects of LSD use may linger after the drug has been metabolized; and individuals who have flashbacks are highly suggestive and play a flashback "role."

Lane, Rachel; Thompson, Bruce – Phi Delta Kappan, 1981
Data from 300 randomly selected K-12 teachers employed in 1979-80 in the Jefferson Parish (Louisiana) Public Schools revealed 10 predictor variables that substantially differentiated striking and nonstriking teachers. (Author/WD)

Bynner, John M.; And Others – Journal of Youth and Adolescence, 1981
The self-esteem and delinquency of high school males was investigated. Cross-lagged correlation methods applied over a long time period were used, as was a causal modeling approach using the LISREL computer program. The analyses suggest that self-esteem plays little part in influencing teenage behaviors and orientations that follow in time.…

Lopez, Manual Mariano – Social Science Quarterly, 1981
Compares patterns of residential segregation among Mexican Americans, Blacks, and Anglos for 1960 and 1970 and finds that, in spite of a striking similarity in the overall pattern, there have been some important changes. Further, city characteristics found to be good predictors of segregation for 1960 fail to adequately account for the same types…

Shiflett, Samuel; Cohen, Stanley L. – Personnel Psychology, 1980
Soldiers responded to a desirability and instrumentality scale for 16 potential outcomes obtainable from outstanding performance. Scores were factor analysed and composites formed to reflect each dimension. The 11-item set was a better predictor than the 16-item set. (Author)

Dattore, Patrick J.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1980
Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory scores yielded significant discriminations between cancer and noncancer groups. The group with cancer was significantly separated from the noncancer group on the basis of lower scores on Byrne's Repression-Sensitization scale (greater repression) and on the Depression scale of the MMPI (less…
