The personality typologies of couples who sought marital counseling were generally incongruent as determined by Holland codes. The Holland hexagonal model was useful in predicting which spouse would initiate marriage counseling, in obtaining a cognitive understanding of specific conflicts, and in helping couples resolve concerns. On tests of English proficiency, 55 Iranian students studying in the United States scored between levels achieved by Fourth- through seventh-grade native speakers. The subjects indicated that association with Americans and time spent in the United States rather than studying English in Iran contributed to their success in English. (PMJ)

Expressed vocational choices correctly predicted actual occupations 2 years after high school for 38 percent of the total sample.
