Designing Early Literacy Interventions for Scale: The Case of Read It Again!
Laura M. Justice; Dorthe Bleses; Logan Pelfrey; Jennifer Peach
Topics in Language Disorders, v45 n2 p80-93 2025
Scaling up scientifically validated interventions involves attending to characteristics of the distinct contexts to which scale-up occurs. Here, we describe Read It Again!, a 30-week curriculum supplement designed to enhance early educators' explicit teaching of early literacy skills. Designed for scalability, the open-source curriculum supplement has been scaled into a variety of settings, including Australia and Denmark. We describe how Read It Again! was modified for suitability in these contexts, and detail research findings concerning its use in the Danish universal child-care system. In addition, details are provided concerning efforts to create a mobile version of Read It Again! that may be beneficial to scale-up efforts that seek to reach large numbers of end users.
