A flexible, point contract system is described which maximizes the advantages of a criterion-referenced contract system while eliminating some of the disadvantages of standard grade contracts. This model has been used by the author in a variety of high school and college courses. (Author/SJL)

Nursing students participating in a wellness program used a learning log combining reflective journal and learning contract practices. Analysis of 13 logs showed students were managing their own learning, setting goals, and identifying their achievements. However, there was a need for more guidance in reflection and analysis. (SK)
