Examined relationships between employment and crime in 61 male misdemeanants. For many, low-level employment and crime were not mutually exclusive, although most respondents were not employed at the time of the arrest that led to their current incarceration. Surveyed 189 couples to see how they felt about their Marriage Encounter experience four years later. Results indicated that about 80 percent of the couples reported a totally positive experience. The most frequently cited positive aspect was the "dialogue." A significant minority of couples experienced negative consequences. (Author/JAC)

Followed-up 60 participants in a behavioral weight-loss program 4.5 years posttreatment. An inexpensive follow-up class was associated with the recruitment of the majority of participants. Confirmed the validity of the Strong Campbell Interest Inventory (SCII) in predicting majors of college students (N=615). A second study determined the differential effect of stable and unstable interests using the same sample and found most students have very stable interests. Follow-up data are presented for 6- and 12-months on male alcoholics (N=20) who received either a multifaceted inpatient alcoholism treatment program alone (controls) or emetic or shock aversion therapy in addition to that program. Both emetic and control subjects compiled more days of abstinence than shock subjects. (Author)

Reports a follow-up of a behavioral self-control treatment of children's severe night fears. All but one of 40 children and their families significantly reduced or overcame night fears in a three-week training program. After three years, 31 of 34 families located had maintained improvement. (JAC)

Types of hyperactivity were studied using data from the general population epidemiological study of 10- and 11-year-old children on the Isle of Wight followed up when 14-15 years old.
