Research concerned with the teacher's ability to retrieve and use materials available through the school library media center has been done using tests of traditional library skills and audiovisual skills. A new instrument which measures all facets of library media competence in terms of all media formats is presented. (Author)

Examines the hypothesis that citation patterns parallel readership patterns in sociology. A stratified random sample of sociologists was asked to record the social science journals they regularly read; these journals were ranked by frequency and then compared to Baughman's list of the most frequently cited journals. Analysis of circulation records for maps at a university library show that borrowers are widely distributed throughout many departments of the university, with heaviest use by graduate students for research purposes.
